28TH JUNIOR COMMON ROOM COMMITTEE

The Junior Common Room Committee (JCRC) is the elected student body representative of Hall 6, one of Nanyang Technological University's eighteen Halls of Residence.

There are sixteen positions in the JCRC of Hall 6, each with their own unique portfolio and duties. The JCRC plans, manages and oversees all student-related events and activities in hall. It works closely with the Senior Common Room Committee (SCRC) to represent the residents' interests to ensure that their needs are met. The JCRC also works as a communication link with the University's Hall Administration, Student Union and the JCRCs of other Halls in NTU.

PRESIDENT

Chew Boshen

Year 4, Aerospace Engineering

Advises and oversees the entire JCRC, making sure the objectives of the committee are met. Boshen is well known to be a master forehead-flicker, is fluent in Mandarin and Hokkien, and can casually eat 5 prata kosongs for supper.

VICE PRESIDENT

Perch Soong

Year 2, Mechanical Engineering

Assists the President by ensuring the smooth running of all internal and external hall activities. Perch is a serious guy, but is also sporty and has his fun-loving moments. Thrives on spicy food and noodles are his number 1 weakness.

HONORARY GENERAL SECRETARY

Quek Shu Hui

Year 1, Business

Handles secretariat matters of the JCRC, and is in charge of documenting activities of all other hall committees. Shu Hui has an insanely infectious laughter, and often unwittingly finds herself the object of interrogation during gatherings due to her mischievous nature.

FINANCIAL CONTROLLER

Chow Jun Rong

Year 2, Accountancy

Responsible for liaising with the Hall Administration which oversees financial proceedings within the JCRC. Well-versed with numbers, this portfolio is the perfect fit for Jun Rong, a music enthusiast who is averse to all types of seafood except fish.

SPORTS DIRECTOR

Cheah Wenqi

Year 1, Communication Studies

Promotes sporting excellence among Sixians and works as the medium of communication between the sports captains and the JCRC. Always up to no good, Wenqi is known for being a loud and affable character that's hard to miss. Talents include the impersonation of the Filipino accent (yes, of all things).

ASST. SPORTS DIRECTOR

Alicia Kho

Year 1, Sociology

Works with the Sports Director to promote sporting excellence and ensures the welfare and smooth running of the Sports Subcommittee. As with Alicia, good things come in small packages: this petite lady is power-packed with an appetite that knows no bounds, as well as the most lovable and infectious personality.

RECREATION DIRECTOR

Chua Seng Han

Year 3, Mechanical Engineering

Promotes sporting excellence among Hall 6's recreation players and functions as the medium of communication between recreation game captains and the JCRC. One of the most humorous people you'll ever meet, Seng Han is also a habitual grammar Nazi and we'll be surprised he doesn't correct this writeup. Suitable for ages 21 and above.

ASST. RECREATION DIRECTOR

Wong Wei Jin

Year 1, Psychology

Works with the Recreation Director to promote sporting excellence among recreation game players and ensures the welfare and smooth running of the Rec. Subcommittee. Wei Jin sings everywhere he goes, and is suspected to be a sassy black lady in disguise. Daily subsistence: KFC and bubble tea.

PUBLICATION DIRECTOR

Feline Lim

Year 1, Communication Studies

Ensures the smooth running of the hall's media outlets and is responsible for the biannual publication, Alchemy. Feline is passionate about writing, design and photography, and runs her own food blog to wax lyrical about her gastronomical adventures. Could use help with directions around school.

ASST. PUBLICATION DIRECTOR

Tricia Ting

Year 1, Linguistics & Multilingual Studies

Works with the Publication Director to ensure the smooth documentation of all student-related hall activities. Beneath her icy cold exterior is a fun and quick-witted individual who is an absolute joy to be around. Interests include sarcasm and contract bridge. Almost a North Korean defector.

BUSINESS MANAGER

Valerie Chua

PUBLICITY DIRECTOR

Ang Kai Lin

CULTURAL DIRECTOR

Tan Wen Jie

Year 1, Psychology

Plans and oversees cultural events, and functions as the mode of communication between the JCRC and the Hall's performing arts groups - Yinsync (Hall 6's a capella group), Jam Band and Gener-seis (Dance). Sometimes lost in her own world, Wen Jie has a penchant for cute things and is a great listener.

RESIDENT AFFAIRS' DIRECTOR

Jermain Chu

Year 1, Psychology

Responsible for the overall well-being of the Hall's residents. Oversees the Milk & Bread scheme, quarterly block supper and welfare of Sixians during the annual NTU Inter-Hall games.
